Lee has more than 30 years of experience deeply rooted in the financial services industry, both as in-house counsel at a number of notable firms and as an attorney with both the SEC and FINRA.
As chief legal and risk officer, Lee oversees a team of legal, compliance, and security professionals at Edelman Financial Engines. Together they are responsible for all matters related to regulatory compliance, corporate governance, information security, legal obligations, and the identification, mitigation and effective management of risk.
Lee’s experience has enabled his keen appreciation for the need to protect investors with a strong standard of care grounded in our fiduciary obligations. Edelman Financial Engines is one of the few firms that has a history and business model built around independence. Since the founding of its core legacy businesses, Edelman Financial Engines has always acted in the best interests of clients, and under Lee’s leadership and extensive experience, the firm remains dedicated to meeting its fiduciary duty every day.
Prior to joining the company, Lee held senior leadership roles at Columbia Management Group, LPL Financial Services, ING, and worked as an attorney with both the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission and the Financial Industry Regulatory Authority (FINRA).
Lee earned his B.A. and J.D. from The Catholic University of America and an L.L.M. from the Georgetown University Law Center.
