If most of your Medicare education comes from daytime TV ads, you’re missing some important details. Our Head of Insurance, Rob Bain, wants to change that. Because if retirement is within arm’s reach, you’ll need to make a lot of Medicare decisions soon.

In this episode of Money On Your Mind, host Michael Liersch talks with Rob about the different parts of Medicare and who can provide you with unbiased answers to your questions (like the difference between Medicare and Medicare Advantage), as well as the options available for retired federal employees and military servicemembers.

Michael and Rob also talk about a decision-making timeline for Medicare plans and how to avoid common pitfalls like HSA clawbacks and missed deadlines. Spoiler alert: We suggest planning ahead more than a couple months before retiring. Finally, Rob has a word of advice for those already enrolled in Medicare.
