Senior Vice President, Head of Planner Growth

Jason Karmelek is Senior Vice President, Head of Planner Growth at Edelman Financial Engines. Jason and his team are responsible for firmwide efforts to attract, develop, and support planners and planning teams nationwide. His role also reflects the firm’s continued focus on creating differentiated career pathways and practice-building opportunities for planners at every stage of their careers.

Jason has more than 20 years of experience in advisor acquisition, business development, and financial services strategy. He previously served as Vice President, Head of Recruitment Strategy at Commonwealth Financial Network, where he was responsible for driving advisor acquisition and supporting the firm’s overall growth strategy. During his tenure there, he led efforts to attract and onboard independent financial advisors, helping to shape the firm’s personalized recruitment approach.

Prior to Commonwealth, Jason held a range of leadership positions at Bank of America and Merrill Lynch, including roles focused on advisor acquisition and product and finance management.

Jason holds a bachelor’s degree in finance from the University of Rhode Island, a master’s degree in business administration and business strategy from Boston University, and a juris doctor degree with a focus on banking and financial institution law from Suffolk University.
